Gardening with Kids

Updated: May 7, 2020

I do not have any children yet, however, I have loads of nieces and nephews and whenever they come over, they are ready and waiting to work! I usually have them help me water my plants or help me pot a new plant. I wish I had an entire garden for them! I take the opportunity to teach them about the types of plants I have and quiz the older ones to help them recall what they learned the last time they visited. We also always go over which plants they should not touch! Which is all the cacti! My niece loves it so that she wants to start a garden for her 6th birthday! Kids are amazing, and gardening is a great way to focus their attention and gives them the satisfaction of seeing their work flourish with healthy plant growth. So don't be afraid to start a small plant project with your kids or join a community garden. Check with your local gardening stores, plant nurseries, or big box plant stores for community outreach programs. Check with your child's school to see if there is a school community garden or start one yourself. #family #gardening #lifeskills
